Realistically we should have been given bicalutamide instead, as it is less harmful, sadly it has been mislabelled for rare liver issues, at much higher doses, likely in alcoholics or others that have trashed their liver in the past, rather than stopping androgen production, it blocks androgen receptors so the testosterone can then convert into neurosteroids, which are important for brain health.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I understand the brain tumour thing and I too am a victim of ignorant doctors not understanding a medication that they prescribed and dosing it incorrectly.
Studies are coming out increasingly showing how often prolactinoma are caused by this.
It was always possible for us to be prescribed these things more safely, but none of these doctors actually bothered reading studies to show they care about their patients, we didn't know it would necessarily have the consequences it did back then, but it was pretty easy to tell that it was dosed too high, too frequently, and they should've understood how long a half life cyproterone actually has, even if they prescribed it for the same big dose but twice a week, it would've likely meant we never got this tumour, or at least it would be far smaller and only have very mild negative effects.
I was puberty blocked and I am currently in a long-term stable romantic/sexual relationship like..? Do you really think that sexuality is unable to develop under the influence of estradiol instead of testosterone? That doesn't make sense at all... mama let's research 😭
